SKETCH OPEN 2017 - Sketchbook Drawing Prize

Selected from an international submission of over 500 Sketchbooks, the shortlisted artists present 100 Sketchbooks to be exhibited in SKETCH2017.  Some images from the two sketchbooks of mine selected for the show.

‘SKETCH is a ‘must-see’ show; it will intrigue, engage and inspire.  100 artists’ sketch books with a truly remarkable range and diversity.  From figurative to abstract; colour-saturated to mono-chrome; notes, jottings and doodles, but also beautifully finished pieces; oil, watercolour, chalk, pencil, pen and ink, paste and collage.  A universe of experience, interpretation and feeling encapsulated in 100, endlessly fascinating artists’ sketch books.  Stunning!’

Extract from Exhibition review by Fiona Robinson "The two fattest sketchbooks, gloriously rich and full of dark seductive surfaces are by Laura Hudson.  Torn paper shapes, edges darkened by charcoal are collaged or used as stencils to create a negative central space". full article at Baby Forest
