200 drawings, compressed carbon / pencil on paper, 2012-1014

Inspired by the land from North Devon to the Cornish Coast, these 200 sketches are the starting point for a series of paintings.

Quickly drawn as I travel through the landscape these momentary glimpses of land passing as I travel are fragments remembered. Mapping the nature of things, the peculiarities of a place or the journeys I‘ve made. As land passes by the shapes fold in on one another, creating an entirely new landscape in the minds eye.
